Mattina's Cucina

Years ago many travelers would stop in for a meal and a good nights rest, during their trek between Toronto and Guelph at the spot we now recognize as Mattina’s Cucina Ristorante, located at 99 Mountainview Road North in Georgetown. While you can no longer spend the night you can still stop in and enjoy a good meal.

Chef and Proprietors, Paul and Cherie Mattina are friendly and helpful hosts, whose hospitality takes us back to days gone by. Mattina’s Cucina is a cozy little restaurant, with a comfortable atmosphere. All of this contributes to the quality of service where chef Paul Mattina actually comes out to check on your meal.

We visited Mattina’s Cucina on a Saturday evening. To start we tried the Tomato and Fresh Basil Soup, which was delicious, and the Fruit and Prosciutto – lovely, and a treat with the addition of grapes and strawberries all served on mixed greens in the House Vinaigrette. The House Wine was an excellent accompaniment to our meal and attractively served in a decorative pitcher.

For our main course we chose the Cheese Manicotti, which was a little dry but it had a lovely sauce which accompanied it – and the Sirloin Steak, which was excellent. Our guests tried one of the evening’s specials, the Arctic Char with Lobster Sauce. They told us it was one of the nicest meals they have had in a long time!

To complete our meal we relaxed and enjoyed a cup of tea and the Coconut Crème Brule, which was rich, creamy and delicious.

Appetizers at Mattina’s Cucina run between $4.95 and $8.95, while the entrees range between $9.95 and $18.95. Our meal with appetizers, wine, entrees, tea and dessert, averaged about $40 per person. We left feeling pleasantly full and content. Reservations available 905-702-8850.
