ON SPAM: If you have an email address setup you have probably at some point received a forwarded email message from someone you know… it could be describing an incredible touching story, or the threat of a virus, or telling you about some surprising unknown facts or even an easy way to make money. But in this day and age when there is so much information out there how do we decipher just what is truth and what is fiction? Before you forward that email, stop and do a little research and check to see if you are falling prey to an email chain letter or if the email actually contains the truth. There are a couple of great web sites dedicated to exposing the truth and helping people determine if the email they have received should be passed on or deleted from your mailbox you can check them out at www.breakthechain.org or www.truthorfiction.com.
Need a ruler when you’re out? Remember any of our Canadian paper currency is 6" long or 15.3 cm.
Before you hang a picture, place rubber pads on each corner. This will keep your pictures from marking the wall and also help it to stay in place.
To disinfect your kitchen sponges, soak them in water with a splash of white vinegar or lemon juice in a microwave safe dish. Then place into the microwave on high for one minute. Remove carefully.
Run out of stain remover for your laundry? An easy alternative can be made with ingredients most of us already have. Place equal parts white vinegar and dish soap in a spray bottle and mix together. Spray the mixture on the stain before laundering.
Shaving cream works great on the carpet as a stain remover. Lightly rub the shaving cream into the stain, then blot the area with a clean damp cloth or sponge.
Ready to start painting? Run a comb through your paintbrush to remove any loose bristles, that might mar your paint job before you begin.

If you are sanding a small wooden object, try fastening the sandpaper to a hard surface in your work area. Then rub the object over the paper this will be much easier on your fingers.
As the cooler weather approaches we can look forward to those frigid mornings with fogged up windows. An easy way to wipe away the condensation is to use a chalkboard eraser, which can be kept handy in your glove compartment.
If your pet manages to get burrs stuck in their coat, try using pliers to crush them first or coating them with baby oil, which should make them easier to remove.
When mowing the lawn try not to cut it when the grass is damp. This can cause uneven blade length and the grass tends to stick together causing clumps, which can block the sun light.
If you have a hard time washing paint off your hands, try rubbing a little Vaseline on your hands before you start. It will help keep the paint from soaking into your pores making it easier to remove.
