Turkey Stuffing

A great way to stuff it!
Here is a wonderful dressing for your Christmas Turkey. Add chestnut stuffing to your birds neck cavity (for approx. 8 lb turkey).

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb chestnuts (1 cup boiled)

  • 1 tbsp. butter, margarine, or salad oil

  • 1/2 lb pork sausage

  • 1/4 cup minced onion

  • 1/2 cup hot water

  • 1 tsp. dried sage

  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

  • 2 cups toasted bread crumbs lightly packed

  • 2 tbsp. sherry

Directions

  1. Wash chestnuts; make long slit on both sides of shell. Bake at 500°F for 15 min.

  2. Shell and skin nuts; then boil in salted water (enough to cover), covered for 20 min.

  3. Drain; chop medium fine.

  4. Add butter to skillet, saute sausage meat and onion about 10 min. or until sausage is cooked, and onion tender.

  5. Combine hot water, sage, salt, pepper, crumbs, sherry. Then add chestnuts, sausage mixture.

  6. Stuff in neck cavity. Fill body cavity with bread stuffing.
